Crooswijk used to be known as a real Rotterdam neighborhood with its cattle market, slaughterhouse and brewery. This activity has disappeared from the neighborhood. Hundreds of houses have been replaced by these, in which old and new Rotterdammers together shape the new Rotterdam. Stately canals, historical monuments and cemeteries give a pleasant atmosphere to a renovated neighborhood.
In Nieuw-Crooswijk a major restructuring is imminent with the aim of creating a green, safe and child-friendly city district between the Kralingse Bos and the Rotte. There will be a rich variety of housing forms and space for business and facilities.
Beads
Amalgamation between old and new has also taken place in the Kralingse neighborhoods. For example, the motto "from water factory to residential area" applies to the former Drinking Water Supply Site. Here, a new residential area on the Maas with a special, sometimes experimental architecture was integrated with the old water basins of the drinking water company.
